Refining a research question

RQ:  What methods exist to promote discussion and mediate conflict between union, non-union employees, and temporary contract workers?

An interesting idea from IBM – the exploration of “fault lines” in the workforce (Young, 2013, p.2).  How can I relate this to the above research question?

Where does research take me now?

  • mediation (conflict resolution)
  • union organization (would union “mentality” be an appropriate description?)
  • segmentation of workforce (workforce demographics)
    • “Identifying critical segments of the workforce based on criteria such as strategic importance; using analytics to understand the dynamics of a workforce segments; tailoring talent practices to each segment” (Young, 2013, p.2).

Can I equate any of this back to workplace learning, to create a workable solution to bridging the trust gap between union, non-union and temporary (contract) workers?
